krafton® bridge decking planks used as a temporary replacement for the Gerrit Krol bridge

krafton® supplied Stageco Nederland B.V. with over 1,500 m2 of krafton® bridge decking planks for the construction of a temporary bicycle bridge in Groningen. The original bridge was hit by a ship in early 2021, damaging it to such an extent that it has been unusable ever since. To allow cyclists to pass, a temporary bicycle bridge was built using krafton® 500.40 bridge decking planks. The krafton® bridge decking planks will remain in place for at least 5 years, after which time they will be returned to our factory under the terms of our previously agreed take-back guarantee.

Temporary krafton® bridge decking planks for construction of the temporary bicycle bridge; safe, sustainable and easy to (dis)assemble

Stageco Nederland B.V. built a beautiful bridge with the help of our krafton® 500.40 bridge decking planks. The bridge provides a safe crossing for a major and busy bike intersection, with around 16,000 cyclists using it every day. The zig-zag design means the slope is not too steep and easy to use for cyclists and those with reduced mobility. The wear layer provides a non-slip surface for cycling that remains non-slip even when wet from rain.
